Exclusive Wallabee’s in San Diego!

Wallabee Clarks San Diego Style!

Yo son, I had crazy visions
Check it out check it out check it out, boom
Just imagine if you buy, woo! Check it out
Just imagine you bought navy blue, right
A navy blue, a navy blue pair right, boom
Of this, of this shit, know what I’m saying?
But dyed get this dyed cream on top
Just imagine that color like
But you got it dripping like it’s marble cake like…

Growing up in the 90’z your show game had to be on point. I wanted to be the first person seen in the newest pair of kicks. One of my all time favorites is the Wallabee Clark. It’s a smooth and casual shoe. They are very comfortable and you can rock them with jeans or shorts. I was put on to the Wally Clark by listening to the Wu-Tang Clan. The famous Ghostface Killa skit were he talks about dying half the clark like marble cake is classic. Found these while I was out exploring in San Diego. Sports Mart in Baltimore is the only other place I have seen these. Needless to say as soon as I seen them I copped them. This will be my third pair of the Fatigue Wally Clark. I will rock them until the gumshoe soul starts to lean.

Step Up Your Seafood Game!

Adventurous Taste Buds!

I’ve always been adventurous when its comes to trying new foods. Coming from Maryland I grew up eating blue crabs, oysters, mussels, shrimp, and fish (sprinkled with old bay of course). If it’s seafood I’m all in! Last week, I took a leap of faith and packed a U-Haul and moved to sunny San Diego. Besides the perfect weather, San Diego is know for having great seafood. Despite my East Coast bias, I was psyched to experience the new tastes myself. I can say without a doubt San Diego stands up to it’s reputation and I was not disappointed.

I tried a fish sandwich from Point Loma Fish Market, and it was so good I went back the next day for another. The fish was fresh, with light breading, perfect seasoning, and sourdough bread.

The next day, I ventured to a farmers market in Little Italy. I wasn’t there for five minutes before we ran into a cool seafood stand. To my surprise, they had sea urchin. Admittedly, I was intimidated to try it. My wife dared me and even paid for me to try this alien-looking creature. Once it was cracked open and cleaned, they stuck it to a paper plate with it’s pointy spikes. With a spoon in my hand, I didn’t know what to expect. I just wanted to live after eating it. I took a bite and my taste buds were rewarded with creamy and nutty flavor. As a seafood lover form Maryland I will say I give the sea urchin two thumbs up and will be trying it again.

And then there was Lhino!

Hybrid Animal Series!

I’ve been seeking inspiration to work on some new designs. I find inspiration in so many places and things but the one place that never fails is nature. Mother nature is the greatest designer of all. I’ve always had a respect for the regal stature of the lion, and wanted to do a piece capturing it’s strength. At the last second I decided the lion wasn’t enough and I wanted to add a mythical feel. Looking to nature again I used a rhino horn to create a Lhino. In the end, the Lhino has inspired me to create a series of hybrid mythical animals. I will make a t-shirt , and maybe some stickers with the designs

HTC Vive: Virtual Reality, It’s A Brave New World!

Are You Ready for Virtual Reality?

Holy Smokes! This weekend I had a chance to demo the HTC Virtual Realty headset. HTC completely nailed the feeling of making me feel like I was in another world. As a graphic designer I was impressed, the graphics were extremely detailed and life like. The ability to move and interact with the space is game changing. Im not a gamer, but I would become one if I had this system. I think this virtual reality technology would be beneficial across a variety of industries, especially with training. I just hope it doesn’t create a culture of people more disconnected than we already are. Adaptive Design vs. Responsive Design

Adaptive vs. Responsive Web!

What are the pros and cons of responsive and adaptive design? As a Web/Graphic Designer I’m still trying to figure out which one is the better approach. I think because responsive and adaptive design are new concepts there isn’t any one correct answer. Like most rules of layout and design they can be broken once you have a understanding of them. Every project should be unique, ultimately functionality and user experience should decide which approach you take. This article does a great job of explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each. http://thenextweb.com/dd/2015/09/01/is-adaptive-better-than-responsive-design/

Design Flyers That Generate Business

Flyers Layout!

Designing club/promotional flyers is a great way to make money on the side, build up your design skills, and create a dynamic portfolio. The three most important highlights of a flyer are:
1. When (the time and the date)
2. Where (address, building name, landmark close by)
3. What (the title/name of the event, usually tied into a theme)
These three sections of the flyer need to have the most emphasis. They should standout on there own and have priority over secondary information.

WHEN:
So your having a huge blowout party! The first thing you want people to know is when. This section should be clearly visible, bold, and standout. You want to place the date in the upper portion of the layout or in the middle in addition to the what. You can write out the day, month, and year or make it numerical 10.10.15. Use with ever on fits best in your layout. Be creative play with font sizes, bold and thin fonts, and color.

WHAT:
This is the title of the flyer, the WHAT is the most important component of the layout. It sets the tone for the event. Making the title exciting by using different design effects and fonts makes people want to know more. Get creative! Keep in mind the fonts you choose and the effects you apply should compliment the imagery that you include in the layout. For example, if your having a high-end event where people are expected to dress up you may want to use a script font. If the event is birthday celebration at a club you might use a bold font.

WHERE:
Surprisingly, I have designed flyers for promoters who forget to add the location of the event on there flyers. People need to know where the event is being held. This is another area you want to add emphasis on. The location should go at the bottom of your layout. If possible use the building logo of where the event is being held. Using the building logo adds a level of professional to your flyer and creates easy recognition. Next, you just need to add the address under the logo and your good to go.

In conclusion, if you want to design a successful flyer make sure you keep these three things in mind. Designing flyers is a great way to build up your skills, make money, and add work to you portfolio. If you have any questions or need design work send me a message.

BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS

Love terriers? Love Boston?

I’ve always wanted go to Boston. It seems like it would be a cool city. I know they have deep history, rich culture, and traditions. I’ve had a chance to see New York, Philly, Rhode Island, New Jersey, even Vermont. So I hope one day I can check out Boston. I live in Maryland and have a min pin named Twix. I have friend in Boston that has a Boston that is scrappy and full of energy. I guess that just comes with being a little dog or little person lol. I like doing designs based on the persona of a city. In this case I combined Boston Celtics colors with the Boston Terrier and the word Boston. So if you love Boston or Boston Terriers this is for you.
